Add OEM Ford power running boards to nearly any vehicle — no CAN bus, factory control module, or programming required.

The Jay Wire Solutions Universal Power Running Board Controller Kit makes it possible to retrofit 2017–2022 Ford OEM powered running boards onto virtually any vehicle. Our standalone dual running board controller operates both driver and passenger side steps independently using simple door-trigger inputs.

Unlike a factory Ford installation, this system does not require CAN bus communication, BCM integration, factory programming, or an OEM running board control module. Installation requires only 12V power, ground, and door-pin switch inputs.

Each side of the vehicle operates independently. Open a door and the running board on that side extends; close the doors and the board retracts.

Optional Door Pin Switches

For vehicles that cannot use the existing factory door-pin circuit, the kit can be ordered with double-pole, single-throw (DPST) door-pin switches.

These dual-circuit switches allow the vehicle's existing door/dome-light circuit to remain functional while providing a separate, isolated door trigger for the power running board controller.

Switches are 3/8" tapered thread pitch - please investigate your application before purchase.

Installation

Installation requires basic automotive electrical knowledge. The controller requires 12V power, ground, and door-pin switch connections. The supplied harness connects the controller to both OEM Ford powered running board assemblies.  The controller should be installed with a 20-amp fuse (not supplied)

Because the controller operates independently of the vehicle's factory electronics, no CAN bus connection or vehicle programming is required.

Important Notes

This kit is designed and tested for use with 2017–2022 Ford OEM powered running board assemblies. Running boards are not included.

Running board mounting and mechanical installation are the responsibility of the installer. Vehicle-specific fabrication may be required to physically mount the running boards.

Existing factory door-pin circuits may be compatible depending on the vehicle's electrical system. When an isolated door-trigger circuit is required, select the optional DPST door-pin switch package.
